FCCAS Pet Food Pantry changes


It has been our sincerest pleasure to serve you and your pets with our Pet Pantry over the past year and a half.  When we started it in April 2020, we weren’t sure how long we would be able to maintain it, but due to the generosity of our community, we have been able to keep many pets and owners together through these difficult times.

We intend to continue to meet your pet food needs going forward, but with a change in the way you get your supplies.  When the pantry began, we had more than enough volunteers to coordinate and make weekly deliveries.  However, people’s lives have now changed so much that that is no longer the case.

As of Sunday, December 12, 2021, you will need to pick up the food you need.  From that point on, you can do so on a monthly basis.  To participate, please do one of two things by the Thursday before:

1) If you have internet access, go to www.fccas.org and click ‘Pet Pantry’ to place your reorder.

2) If you do not have internet access, call our helpline (216-706-9363) and leave a message stating your name, address and phone number and what you need to reorder.

Here are the pickup location and times:

When: Pickup 2nd Sunday of every month
Where: Cuyahoga County Animal Shelter
9500 Sweet Valley Dr.
Valley View, OH 44125
Time: 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
Alternate Pickup: Following Monday, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Why can FCCAS no longer deliver?
The delivery model was put in place during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic to allow contactless delivery, and safe social distancing for everyone. During this time many people were not working, or working from home, and drivers were ample.  As the pandemic has worn on, and volunteers have returned to work, drivers are in short supply and delivery cannot be sustained any longer.
What if I don’t drive (or have a car) to pick up food?
We want to still be able to assist you and your pet’s needs.  Much like groceries, or your other household needs, you will need to arrange transport through family or friends to pick up the pet food.
Can I designate someone else to pick up food on my behalf?
Yes, when ordering please let us know who will be picking up for you.
I am not available during the event pickup date/time. What are my options?
There is an alternate pickup date the following Monday after the event, between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., please let us know in advance if you will be picking up on Monday.
Will I be able to pick out my food when I am there for the pickup day?
Unfortunately no, we ask that you stay in your car during the event.  Food orders will be pulled prior to event based on your order information and loaded into your vehicle.  Food distribution is based on what is available at the time.
Can I show up the day of the event and get food?
No, you will need to pre-order so we can ensure we have enough food, and your order is ready to go.
Can I pick up more than one month’s worth of food at a time?
At the current time, we will only be giving out food to accommodate pets for 4 weeks.
My last delivery is 11/6/2021.  What if I run out of food before 12/12/2021?
We are planning for those receiving delivery on 11/6/21 to receive an extra week’s worth of food due to the transition.
