Summer is one of the busiest times of the year for animal shelters, because the number of lost and stray dogs goes up as the weather gets warmer. Thanks to your support, CCAS is able to care for these animals and help reunite them with their families.
One of the crucial ways the shelter does that is microchipping, which gives lost dogs a much better chance of returning home safely. The first microchipping clinic of the summer was held on May 31 and helped many pet owners protect their dogs. CCAS will hold two more clinics later this summer. You can find those dates and other events on the Cuyahoga County Animal Shelter Event Calendar.
CCAS’s website also has a Lost and Found Guide that provides important information for anyone who has lost – or found – a dog. It tells how to report a missing pet, search local shelters, and take quick action to help reunite families with their animals.
Want to learn more about CCAS’s work in this area? Listen to the podcast Ask Cuyahoga. In episode 8 of season 4, Shelter Administrator Mindy Naticchioni and External Affairs Manager Jen Huettich discuss the work of the shelter, the challenges caused by the growing number of lost and stray dogs every summer, and ways the community can help. The episode is available here: Ask Cuyahoga Podcast Episode About the Animal Shelter.
Every donation, volunteer hour, and shared social media post helps dogs find safety, care, and loving homes. Thank you for continuing to support this vital work in our community!
