This sweet girl came to us in May 2023, and while her body was still recovering from having multiple litters of puppies, we knew she had a bright spirit. After a medical evaluation, Nala was found to be heartworm positive—but that’s just where her story begins!
In mid-May, Nala began her heartworm treatment, provided by the Modi fund, and we searched for a foster home where she could rest and recover. After waiting at the shelter for nearly two months, she finally found a loving foster family! Nala absolutely thrived in their care—she’s affectionate, playful and full of love. Though she spent almost a year with her foster family, they had to return her through no fault of her own.
Back with us now, Nala has shown how resilient and forgiving she truly is. She’s ready to start her next chapter, looking for a forever family. As a middle-aged and pit bull mix, she’s often overlooked—but trust us, this girl is one-of-a-kind!
Nala loves joining our daily playgroups, making friends with other dogs and is a staff and volunteer favorite. Belly rubs? She’ll never say no! Her absolute favorite thing is carrying around a stuffed animal while she plays and snorts happily. She adores both kids and adults and keeps her kennel spotless, never having accidents.
Her previous family described her perfectly “Loving, patient, kind and sure to bring pure joy to her new home.” And the best news? Nala is now heartworm negative and completely healthy, ready for her forever home!
