Volunteer Opportunity: Social Media Manager

Friends of the Cuyahoga County Animal Shelter (FCCAS)

Do you love animals and social media? FCCAS is looking for a volunteer Social Media Manager to help us share our mission, engage our community, and support the amazing animals at the Cuyahoga County Animal Shelter.

This is a flexible, volunteer role—perfect for someone who enjoys creating content, connecting with others online and making a difference. You’ll have plenty of support from board members with marketing experience, as well as a team of volunteers who help write posts and share updates. Your role will be to oversee and guide the team, ensuring our online presence is engaging, positive, and impactful.

What You’ll Do

  • Work with a team of volunteers who help create content and post updates.
  • Develop fun and engaging content about adoptable pets, success stories, events, and ways people can help.
  • Oversee FCCAS’s Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and X (formerly Twitter) to share our mission.
  • Help grow and engage our online community, inspiring people to adopt, volunteer, and donate.
  • Choose the best photos, videos, and stories to post and get people involved.
  • Make sure our content aligns with FCCAS’s mission and helps more animals find loving homes.
  • Provide simple guidance on when and what to post to keep things organized and consistent.
  • Track basic engagement metrics (likes, shares, comments) to see what works best.

Why Volunteer With Us?

  • Flexible hours! You can contribute as much time as your schedule allows.
  • You’ll be part of a supportive team—you’re not doing this alone!
  • You’ll help animals find homes by spreading the word about FCCAS’s work.
  • Great opportunity to use your social media skills for a cause you care about.
  • Gain valuable experience in digital marketing and community engagement.

Who Would Be a Great Fit?

  • Someone who loves animals and wants to use social media to help them.
  • A creative thinker who enjoys storytelling, photography, or making fun and engaging posts.
  • Someone with some experience in social media, whether for personal use, work, or volunteering.
  • A team player who can help coordinate volunteers and keep things running smoothly.
