Meet Harley: The Diva of the Shelter!
Harley is our fabulous, spirited girl who has been with us since June 10th, 2024, and we’re eager to help her find her forever home. With her unique personality, spunky attitude, and unmistakable charm, it’s no wonder that everyone at the shelter adores her. To be quite honest, none of us knew why Harley was sitting for so long. Despite being a senior, Harley is far from slowing down! She’s always up for a new adventure and has no problem keeping pace with our volunteers.
Like most of us, Harley had a few quirks but has overcome them through her training with Miracle K-9. Initially, she did not do well for medical restraint, equipment fittings or actions that required lifting her limbs or touching her belly. She has become much more comfortable with being touched and is now happy to wear a harness, a hoodie in the winter, accept training collars and even let us clip her nails. Plus, she’s turned into a fantastic leash walker—no pulling here!
Allergies are very common and very treatable in dogs. Harley is also a little sensitive when it comes to her skin. She’s on a special fish and potato diet to manage her allergies, and she’s currently taking medication to keep flare-ups under control. She will need an established vet to continue monitoring her skin as she ages but this is simple and not uncommon.
When it comes to leisure, Harley knows how to live in style! She loves sunbathing, curling up with a fluffy blanket and enjoys her quiet time. Harley is an intuitive dog who knows how to keep things calm—she’s housebroken and quiet.
While she’s been waiting for her forever home, she’s stayed a several foster homes and they’ve all raved about her. She gets along well with people, enjoys a cozy spot by your side. Harley’s perfect home would be one with no other pets and an adult-only atmosphere, where she can relax and enjoy her later years.
Harley’s a low-key gal who’s easy to fall in love with. She’s definitely a loving companion who will keep you company and share some sweet kisses.
